For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
Pastor James M. Lee, Sr.
Pastor James accepted the call to shepherd the sheep of the Central Union Baptist Church in 1993 and the Lord has tremendously blessed the Union. Several ministry, membership, administrative, financial, and facility related milestones have been realized under his watch.
He received his ministerial training from the Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland. His affiliations include the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors, the American Association of Christian Counselors, the Evangelical Training Association, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the Missionary Baptist Ministers Conference of D. C. and vicinity.
In addition to Pastor James' desire to see soul's saved, he emphasises the need for spiritual growth and development through discipleship and the teaching of God's Word so that every disciple in Christ is properly equipped to go out and make disciples as we are commanded to do in Matthew 28:19-20. He is very passionate about the importance of the study of God's word and through his preaching and teaching he is always challenging the members of CUBC to study hard and dig deep.
He is truly in love with the work that God has called him to do. He does not take his assignment lightly, and is always approachable and available to those under his watch. He has used the marvels of modern technology to attracted people from all over the nation to our weekly Insights Bible Study Conference Call.
